The Romanian Film Festival UK is a new, not for profit, cultural initiative created by Manuela R Morar and Alexandru Gherman. It is organised by ReelON Media and Asociatia Art Acord, in partnership with Curzon Cinemas, a long time promoter of Romanian cinema in London.

The 2025 inaugural edition of the Romanian Film Festival UK

promises to present a robust lineup of films that include brand new releases, UK premieres, shorts and restored gems from the past. In addition to the main event in London, in 2025 it will also feature a pop-up screening in Colchester, Essex.

From a relatively quiet launch over twenty years ago, the Festival, which the Ratiu Foundation was proud to support, grew into an annual institution thanks to the extraordinary award-winning productions coming out of Romania and the thoughtful guidance of the late Ramona Mitrica. We now once again have a future to look forward to thanks to the new management team of Manuela and Alexandru. "

Manuela R Morar

Manuela is a Romanian - British film and tv marketing professional with over 15 years experience in content marketing and events, who got her first taste of the film industry as a volunteer at the Romanian FIlm Festival in London in 2009 and 2010.

Dr. Alexandru Gherman

Alexandru is a Romanian - American award winning film and theatre director, as well as an alumni of the prestigious London Film School. Alexandru brings a wealth of film history knowledge and cultural expertise to the Romanian Film Festival UK.
